Community & Development

At SHE-ERA, our work in community and social development is primarily driven by our commitment to inclusion and opportunity for all women.

Through a series of targeted and impactful projects, we have helped transform lives, strengthen local communities, and promote sustainable development across Kosova. Our approach is people-centered, practical, and focused on long-term empowerment.

Social Mentoring for Vulnerable Women

One of our flagship services is social mentoring, where we match trained mentors with women facing social and economic barriers, survivors of gender-based violence, and women with disabilities. These mentoring programs go beyond emotional support: they offer career guidance, soft-skills training, and personalized pathways to employment. Many of our mentees have successfully entered the job market, found renewed confidence, and built brighter futures for themselves and their families.

Clean Water Awareness and Access

Our Clean Water Project which started in 2020, was a major cross-border project that improved water quality and environmental sustainability in the municipalities of Gjakova (Kosovo) and Kukës (Albania). Implemented in partnership with the Albanian Center for Economic Research (ACER) and local governments, the three-year project was funded by the EU with a total value of €1.4 million.

This effort goes beyond infrastructure, empowering communities to actively protect their water resources. The project encouraged stronger regulations and sustainable water management practices associated with global standards by raising awareness, educating people, and encouraging inclusive public dialogue. We contributed to the preservation of clean water as a shared right and responsibility across borders by engaging with communities, particularly women and youth.

Empowering Women Farmers

We think that agriculture has the potential to be a source of income as well as a means of achieving independence. For this reason, we assist female farmers in starting their farms and transforming conventional farming practices into profitable ventures. Our assistance enables women to expand their farming activities and reach new markets by offering everything from business planning and organic training to the supply of necessary equipment for the production of natural fertilizers, agriculture activities, beekeeping equipment, land preparation and crop farming equipment, and many more.

Other Projects

Numerous additional projects are also part of our community development work, from civic education and local capacity building to environmental activism and youth empowerment. Our goal is the same for all of our projects: empowering women to be leaders, workers, and changemakers in order to build stronger communities from the ground up.
