The entrepreneurial woman Shkurte Rrustemi – the village of Baba i Bokës
The entrepreneurial women keep achieving successes in agriculture by bringing results in the private sector. Shkurte Rrustemi, from the village of Baba i Bokës, Municipality of Gjakova, is a very successful woman.
Shkurta has registered the business in her ownership since 2002. She comes from a healthy family of eight members, and together with her husband and six children, they continuously work in the family business.
The Rrustemi family owns 10 Ha. of land, in which they cultivate different products such as: corn, wheat, vegetables, forestry fruits (raspberry, red berry, strawberry, blackberries, and chokeberries), as well as owns a greenhouse; the secondary products which Shkurta develops are: pickles, jam, ajvar and pindjur. Furthermore, the Rrustemi family possesses a corn mill, the tailoring machine of sacks for the corn flour wrappings, corn excoriation machine, a bulgur machine and a weighting machine, which enable the corn processing and its sale as flour.
Shkurta, and her family, are currently investing in building a warehouse, which will serve as a collection point of the forestry fruits, for which she has cooperation with a factory in Junik (Gjakovë).
Moreover, Rrustemi family is a beneficiary of a tender from Municipality of Gjakova, for small fruits’ seedlings spreading in community (of the Municipality’s beneficiaries).
The village of Baba i Bokës, Municipality of Gjakova, is characterized by lack of water. Shkurta explains that the lack of some machinery makes the elaboration process harder, but she does not give up by hoping that someday in the future she will manage to complete all the equipment, through donations or her own investments. This is a good example of women in the region of Gjakova.
