“Third Strategic Expert Meeting Women Entrepreneurs”

“The Third Strategy of Women Entrepreneurs of South-Eastern European Countries”

On June 9-12, 2013, in the city of  Budva, Montenegro was held the “Third Strategic Expert Meeting Women Entrepreneurs ”.In this meeting, each participating South-East European country presented their achievements within the year highlighting the opportunity to create a more favorable business environment for women based on the principles of the European Union Small Business Act, to the accomplishment of their objectives.  Beneficiary countries of this meeting were: Albania, Bosnia, Croatia, Kosovo, Moldavia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey. The Republic of Kosovo was represented by Women’s Business Association “SHE-ERA” Ms.Zana Rizvanolli and Women’s Network “Cell” Mrs.Bejtullahu where they presented the business environment of women, the challenges and issues they face, and the effort and commitment of governmental institutions to realize the objectives of the “National Platform of Women Entrepreneurs in Kosovo”.

The participating women from South-East European countries were informed on the creation of Women’s Economic Chamber (G 7) which was one of the goals of the Presidential Summit of the President, Mrs.Jahjaga. In addition, prizes for successful women were awarded from the Ministry of Trade and Industry Mrs. Kusari-Lila during “The Days of Small Businesses 2013”. The modification of the business registration data base from the MIT, in favor of increasing the number of businesses owned by women was carried out by offering a new column which indicates the owner and their gender (male or female). Also, the MAFRD, specifically the Minister Mr.Stavileci offered his support for women entrepreneurs in Agriculture through grants, fairs and promotions, subsidies, and the organization of the traditional conference “Rural Women Days”. Participating women of the meeting appreciated all these efforts as accomplishments for women entrepreneurs from the governmental institutions of Kosovo.

The following were recommended during the meeting: The creation of a data base for women as business owners by those countries which lacked it, the support of the Law for Inheritance so that women can have access to family property and capital (according to some statistics only 2% of women posses property). It was also reccommended that a new regional platform should be initiated next year, with the purpose of brining each participating country’s indicidual platform into a single one.
